Bethany and Calvin

A terrific couple, married at the Glen Manor in Portsmouth, RI on a PERFECT New England day, September 15th.  Clear blue skies, grass so green it hurt your eyes and the sailboats in the Sakonnet below.   One of my favorite shots of their wonderful day, their last dance.  Congratulations guys!

And extremely happy to have booked the lovely Kerrie for her wedding next summer!

Had a great consultation with Kerrie and her Mom Sharon today.  Aside from being a fun and pretty bride-to-be, it turns out there are several intersections with past weddings I have captured and it was great to relive those events and the people we both knew.  This is so illustrative of the best part of wedding photography--it creates life-long linkages and friendships and the 6 degrees of separation lessen and lessen and lessen.  Especially in Rhode Island!

At any rate, I hope that Kerrie, Sean and I are able to work together on their July wedding...she will be both beautiful and so much fun.

Josie and Angel

Had the great privilege of shooting a wonderful wedding last weekend with Jerry Coli, of DB Photo.  Fantastic, totally Latin through-and-through day full of wonderful families and fun, outgoing friends.  From the Getting Ready to the last salsa, it was a total delight.  Josie was absolutely beautiful and we escaped a truly menacing thunderstorm in downtown Providence while we took the formals at Waterplace Park, with gondoliers and gondolas in the background.  And talk about dancing!  The Pearl Lounge was the perfect place for the Latin dancing and everyone got into it, from the Flower Girl to the Mother of the Bride (who was a fantastic salsa dancer).   It was almost impossible to sit still...the music mix was that good.  And for once, the men all danced!  And oh, so well.

Congratulations Josie and Angel--you are off to a great start in your life together.  It was a blast to be part of the day!

Had the great pleasure of shooting a wonderful wedding at Whispering Pines today for bride Laura and groom Scott.  Working with a terrific Rhode Island photographer, Jerry Coli, we covered this gorgeous location where the outdoor wedding occurred overlooking the lake--on a temperate and picture-perfect day.

Every wedding is special--because each bride and groom and their families are unique--and each wedding day brings particular pleasures and memories.  In this wedding, the sheer and obvious pleasure Laura took in each and every aspect of her big day were palpable.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself...and so did all the guests.   The photos will show it!

Making the Big Move!

Well, it has been a somewhat tumultuous month (year?), but I have moved into the joy of making Newport Image my full-time career!   This was not done without significant soul-searching, and great support by my wife and partner, but we are thrilled.

Nothing gives me as much sheer pleasure as capturing people, beauty and emotion and providing it to those who cherish the memories these images bring.  Weddings are the perfect place for such imagery and the coming year is filling with wonderful opportunities to do what I love.

I promise this blog will be up to date!   :v)   In the meantime, here are some favs from Allie and Bobby's recent, beautiful and waaaaaaaaay fun wedding:

Marissa and Jordan's wedding

Yesterday the planets all aligned to produce a perfect wedding for a perfect couple. The weather in Newport on this July 4th weekend was clear, blue and spectacular. The bridesmaid's wore Navy blue and the groomsmen were in khaki suits--including the first guy down the aisle, 1 year old Maxson, who made it all the way down the aisle under his own power!

You could not put together a nicer group of friends and families and everyone had a wonderful time. Marissa was blonde and gorgeous and Jordan handsome and both so completely right for each other. OceanCliff did their usual great job and DJ Mark had everyone dancing through the afternoon. Then it was off to Goat Island for a 2 hour sunset cruise on the red-sailed Aurora. Newport harbor and the east passage were flawless in the sunshine and the party just kept getting better! What a privilege to be part of it all. Thanks guys!

Photos coming as the post-processing gets accomplished...there are lots!
